Job Function:

The Multimedia Content Producer and Local Content Lead is responsible for creating high-quality video and audio content for all Ball State Public Media platforms, including Ball State PBS, Indiana Public Radio, YouTube, and social media channels. The individual in this position serves as the lead producer of on-air membership, underwriting, and promotional assets in audio and video formats for Ball State Public Media.

Minimum Education:

1. Bachelor's degree in telecommunications, media, film, broadcasting, communications, or related field
OR
2. Associate’s degree and two years of related experience will be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
OR
3. High school diploma or GED plus an additional combination of education or experience in IT equivalent to four years.

Minimum Experience:

  • At least two years of experience shooting and editing video, preferably for a media organization.
  • Proven experience in project management, demonstrating the ability to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close projects effectively within scope, budget, and timeline constraints.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in non-linear editing, such as Avid, Final Cut Pro;
  • Three years of experience in digital media editing, camera operations, script writing, electronic graphics, lighting, and DVD authoring.
  • Advanced knowledge of media recording, editing, and technical and creative aspects of media productions using professional grade equipment and software.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead project teams in multimedia production efforts. Coordinate with production team and student fellows to manage and monitor content projects, collaborating with the Director of Audience Development on all productions.
  • Creatively write, produce, and edit segments and shows, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards, with aesthetic execution.
  • Develop inventive, imaginative, and original media with creativity and innovative approaches across platforms.
  • Manage video projects from conception to completion, coordinating teams and resources, with other departments, faculty, students, and freelance contractors.
  • Maintain technical standards and brand consistency in video projects.
  • Publish and promote videos across multiple platforms, working with Director of Audience Development to analyze and evaluate viewership data.
  • Stay current on multimedia production trends and technologies. Learn and implement emerging technologies to enhance production processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate, capture, and edit video and audio for on-air and online distribution.
  • Assign, oversee and review work, orient and train student employees and make recommendations as to interviewing and selection, performance appraisal, compensation, and discipline.
