BCM is among the largest biomedical research institutions in the nation with resources and scientists focused on a diverse array of fields. The faculty have the opportunity to collaborate with geneticists, biologists, and clinicians and its affiliated hospitals in the Texas Medical Center. These hospitals include Texas Children's, the Houston VA Medical Center, CHI Baylor St. Luke's Hospital, and Ben Taub General Hospital. Collaborations with faculty in health services research at our Center of Excellence at the VA Medical Center and with MD Anderson Cancer Center are encouraged.
The Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC) at BCM has strong research programs in the basic, population, clinical, and translational sciences. The Center for Precision Environmental Health Medicine and Human Genome Sequencing Center, Human Microbiome Center and the Children's Nutrition Research Center at Baylor provide other important resources for collaboration. The DLDCCC is further supported by a broad array of shared resources including the Population Sciences Biorepository that provides biospecimen collection, processing, and storage coupled with clinical and risk factor data collection for a variety of cancers as part of our growing molecular epidemiology program and computational biology and bioinformatics.
Summary
The Section of Epidemiology and Population Sciences in the Department of Medicine, at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston, Texas is seeking population science researchers' at all academic levels, with specialties in epidemiology (cancer or other diseases), implementation science, survivorship, nutrition, and computational science.
Job Qualifications:
Successful candidates must hold a doctorate degree or equivalent, and have relevant research training and experience. We seek academic researchers who can contribute immediately, as evidenced by a history of peer-reviewed funding and publications. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated prior leadership and mentoring skills and have engaged in successful collaborative, multidisciplinary research. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position is tenure-track. Salary and start-up funds are highly competitive.
