Job Summary | Come join our dynamic team to shape the future of user experience and access to knowledge in a vast and ever-growing digital library. The Digital Infrastructure department at the J. Willard Marriott Library is seeking a customer-focused software developer to help support our software development needs and maintain digital library infrastructure. As a member of our software development team, you will play a key role in developing and shaping mission-critical infrastructure to facilitate cutting-edge research, digitization and dissemination of cultural heritage. Your contributions will directly impact the creation of knowledge that enriches the University of Utah community and serves millions of users accessing our Digital Library resources each year. You can see an example of these types of public-facing projects we create, from our Utah Digital Newspapers Project https://digitalnewspapers.org, Digital Library https://collections.lib.utah.edu, Research Data Repository https://hive.utah.edu, Digital Exhibits https://exhibits.lib.utah.edu/. The successful candidate will collaborate with fellow developers, web designers, faculty, researchers, and staff to innovate and enhance Digital Library, Research Data, and other electronic services. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a background in software development, who can work effectively, both independently as well as part of a team. The University of Utah is committed to providing jobs to individuals located in Utah, and sees remote roles like this as an opportunity to provide amazing employment opportunities to those living in remote areas of the state. As such, Utah-based applicants may be prioritized in the screening process. At this time, the University of Utah is unable to employ individuals living in California, Colorado, New York, Oregon, or Washington. This position is a remote eligible position. Aligned with the University’s commitment to “Celebrating U Completely,” we seek qualified applicants who bring perspectives and experiences that will enrich and strengthen our organization and enhance our commitment to inclusive access and belonging. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, including those who may not have followed a traditional educational or professional path. We are interested in identifying and interviewing candidates with experience and expertise that will contribute to advancing our mission to provide everyone with access to information resources and educational opportunities. |
