Job Summary | The University of Utah Department of Emergency Medicine is looking to hire an energetic, professional, skilled PRN Nurse Practitioner to join our team and provide care to patients in multiple emergency department locations. We are seeking candidates with a minimum of two years experience working in Emergency Medicine AS A NURSE PRACTITIONER. The Department of Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) duties will include providing care on a PRN basis to patients in the University of Utah Hospital Emergency Department and South Jordan Health Center Emergency Department. Expectations include performing routine physical exams, ordering laboratory tests, x-rays and special imaging studies. Additional expectations include performing routine emergency department procedures, communicating and consulting with emergency department and other consulting physicians. |
Responsibilities | Essential Functions Assesses the physical condition of a group of patients by performing physical examinations and obtaining medical histories. Formulates the medical plan and prognosis based on patient’s condition. Consults with physician(s) regarding patient health care plans and treatment. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient’s clinical problems and health care needs. Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence. Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy. Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents. Participates in quality improvement activities. Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance. Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures. Problem Solving Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area. Demonstrated leadership, teaching, research and communication skills. Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served. |
