Job Description

Postdoctoral research positions are available to study intestinal crypt cell survival and epithelial barrier function. Current focuses are to investigate how the defect in G protein-couple receptor lysophosphatidic acid receptor 5 modulates intestinal crypt cell survival and barrier functions at the intestinal villi that enhance inflammation and tumor progress in the intestinal tract. We employ intestinal enteroids cultures, transgenic mice, cell biology, and biochemical techniques. Qualified individuals are expected to be able to design and execute experiments independently with minimum supervision. Trainings in specific techniques are provided by the principal investigator and co-investigators. May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff.

Minimum requirement: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in cell biology, molecular biology, oncology, gastroenterology, or biochemistry. Excellent scientific writing ability, strong oral communication skills, the ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues are required. Prior trainig in cell biology, oncology, gastroenterology, molecular biology or biochemistry is highy desirable. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory. Recent graduates will be give preference.
