Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
This position serves as the Administrative Assistant for the Main English Office (MEO), which includes greeting visitors, answering telephones, and maintaining calendars.

Reporting to the Administrative Coordinator, this position also provides general administrative support to the department chair, including answering phones, drafting and editing correspondence, maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings, filing and photocopying. Provides event support to include reserving rooms, updating calendars, and organizing event setup. Collects, organizes, and enters data related to faculty and staff, including contact information, office hours, syllabi, committee assignments, accomplishments, and publications.

This position shares, with the Administrative Coordinator, responsibility for supervising 3-4 undergraduate student assistants.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED AND 3 years experience providing administrative support. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferences:
Preference for someone with strong writing and proofreading skills. Experience providing executive-level support is preferred, as is experience in a higher education setting and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
