Job Summary
The University of Southern Mississippi is accepting applications for a Visiting Instructor for the academic year 2019-2020 in the School of Child and Family Sciences. This is a nine-month, non tenure-track, temporary appointment based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to begin Fall 2019.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The School of Child and Family Sciences is seeking someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the university community, and is committed to university service and campus engagement. The School has demonstrated success in developing diverse faculty, and we are especially interested in candidates from underrepresented groups as well as individuals who have experience in working with diverse student populations. Primary responsibility is teaching undergraduate coursework in child development and family relations. Other responsibilities include:

Prepare and provide online and/or face-to-face course instruction
Prepare and submit syllabi, grades and other required course documentation in a timely manner
Communicate course requirements and expectations to students
Follow instructional protocols established by the university and the school
Be available to student through office hours (face to face or virtual)
Performs other duties, as assigned


Minimum Qualifications
A master’s degree in Human Development and Family Science, Child and Family Studies, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.

Evidence of successful teaching experience in both face-to-face and in online formats.

Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience in early child-care or pre-school settings.
Eligible for, or currently is, a Certified Family Life Educator.
