Job Description
The Director of Nursing (DoN) is responsible for the daily operation of the nursing department in delivering the LPN curriculum to nursing students. The DoN develops, plans, organizes, and supervises the College’s nursing program and ensures that the nursing curriculum delivered is consistent across all learning platforms and in all locations. The DoN supervises the nursing faculty in work assignments, assessment of student learning, creation of student calendars, clinical rotation schedules, budgeting, and maintaining program standards in accordance with the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN) and College requirements. A successful candidate must be able to work in collaboration with local health-care providers and possess outstanding management and communication skills.

The successful candidate must possess a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and an unencumbered Arkansas RN license. The candidate must have four years hospital clinical experience, and three plus years education experience in an ASBN approved nursing program with preference given to those with previous ASBN approved program management and supervisory experience. Experience in development of nursing curriculum, designing effective student schedules and assignments, academic advising, budgeting and program assessment is required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide curriculum design and program management for all levels of ASBN Accreditation.
2. Teach and provide clinical assistance as required to support faculty leave and illness.
3. Coordinate with nursing faculty regarding advising needs of nursing students.
4. Supervise Nursing Faculty and Support personnel.
5. Generate tests, syllabi, reporting.
6. Create and maintain an environment conducive to teaching and learning.
7. Coordinate program activities and delegate responsibilities to faculty as appropriate.
8. Maintain relationships with advisory committee and other academic and support units for program planning and development.
9. Regularly assess program and course outcomes.
10. Work with nursing students to provide necessary documentation for licensure examination.
11. Direct the development and evaluation of policies and standards for the selection, admission, promotion, and graduation of nursing students.
12. Provide department leadership through excellent communication, both within the department and between the department and administration.
13. Facilitate program faculty meetings.
14. Manage student concerns related to faculty, department, and program.
15. Conduct annual and periodic performance evaluations for faculty in accordance with college policies and procedures.
16. Participate in college-wide meetings, in-services, and committees for program enhancement.
17. Coordinate hiring, supervision, and evaluation of full-time and part-time nursing faculty.

Required Qualifications
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and unencumbered Arkansas RN license required.
