Cutaneous Oncology Clinical Research Fellowship

The Program
The Cutaneous Oncology Fellowship provides focused training in the fields of melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancers and cutaneous lymphoma, as well as management of the chemotherapy- and biological therapy-related cutaneous side effects, GVHD, and other supportive oncology services.

The fellows will develop advanced clinical skills in managing cutaneous oncology inpatient and outpatient populations as well as participate in basic, clinical and translational investigation of the Department of Dermatology. Fellows have numerous opportunities to present their research at local, national and international conferences and publish scholarly clinical and translational research articles.

Two types of training are available as a part of a Cutaneous Oncology Fellowship:

a) Basic/translation research for medical students and MDs with prior basic research experience.

b) Clinical Fellowship for MDs with valid medical license. Fellow is responsible for caring for the patients on clinical trials, including full physical examination, calculation of mSWAT and RECIST scores, monitoring, managing and reporting of adverse events under close personal supervision of a principle investigator. Fellows are also involved in some regulatory aspects and management of the clinical trials together with the Department of Dermatology Clinical Research Unit.

Requirements
• MD or MD/PhD degree and completion of at least 1 year PGY1 residency (by June 30). Fellows may also have already completed dermatology residency.
• CV and 3 references
• Scores from the USMLE Steps 1 and 2. USMLE Step 3 (required to obtain New York State Medical License; must be obtained prior to start of fellowship)
• New York State Medical License; at the time of the beginning of the fellowship (July 1)

Dates
This is a one to two year fellowship. Each appointed term runs from July 1st through June 30th.
