Job Description

The successful applicant will work in a leading role together with a new Junior-Professor in the junior research group in transdisciplinary, social-ecological research SALIDRAA 2 funded by the German Ministry of Science and Education (BMBF). This group deals with the problem of salinization of the Draa River Basin in Morocco, its effects on biodiversity and ecosystem services and the potential of system transformation. The appointment is for 5 years (beginning not earlier than April 2019, continuation beyond March 2020 subject to a milestone evaluation of the project) and salary will be according to the German public service salary scale TV-L E14.
The applicant will be responsible for research activities on the human and social dimension of ecosystem services, water and land use conflicts as well as stakeholder involvement. Specifically, he or she will be in charge of networking and collaborating with actors of the civil society in Morocco. Together with the Junior Professor he or she will develop the specific research foci of the group, oversee and guide an interdisciplinary and international group of doctoral students from Germany and Morocco and initiate and guide publications in international scientic journals. Further tasks include public relations activities, presentations and teaching.
