Job Description


The School of Art and Art History invites applications for a 9-month visiting faculty member at the rank of Instructor 1 in the area of Contemporary Art History. Appointment will begin on August 7, 2019 and cease on May 5, 2020.

Must teach 2 courses in the Fall 2019 semester and 3 courses in the Spring 2020 semester. Primary teaching responsibilities include one undergraduate global survey of Contemporary Art and two seminars on Contemporary Art, reflecting the research specialization of the Instructor. Seminars will be open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Other responsibilities include developing and maintaining a strong record of scholarly research as well as advising students, participating in the graduate program, and engaging in limited departmental service.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. (or ABD) in a field of Contemporary Art History (or experience teaching Contemporary Art History); record of successful teaching, commitment to interact active classroom learning, evidence of ongoing research..

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will hold a demonstrated record of publications, and related curatorial activities or service to the discipline.
