Position Summary
This position is a new full time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Education/ Instrumental Music, beginning as soon as January 2020. Teaching responsibility is 12 credit hours per semester (3 of those credits are traditionally credited towards research). Primary duties include directing the Orchestra (initially co-directing), teaching music education courses and working in collaboration with the Director of Music Education to supervise Instrumental Music Education Majors in student teaching and field experience placements within our BS in Music: Music Education degree. Duties include teaching courses related to instrumental music and music education studies such as Methods and Materials for Teaching Instrumental Music, as well as other music education methods and conducting classes. The successful candidate will provide evidence of administrative experience in addition to excellence in teaching and instrumental conducting; any experience in elementary music would be a plus.
