Job Summary

PLEASE NOTE: THE FOLLOWING POSITION IS FOR PURDUE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ONLY.



The graduate assistant to the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences (CHESS) will help support the mission of the college by assisting in the support and promotion of college-related events and activities. The graduate assistant will aid in daily social media and website upkeep, management of college email, creation of marketing materials, and attendance of CHESS events. The graduate assistant will aid in the planning and execution of events and media while working collaboratively with CHESS staff. The assistant will develop valuable communication and professional skills in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Graduate Assistants are expected to work 20 hours per week



Duties/Responsibilities

Assist in the creation and design of marketing materials for CHESS

Aid in the daily upkeep of CHESS maintained websites and email addresses

Attend and participate in various outreach activities and events as a representative of CHESS

Maintain social media and online presence by utilizing social media tools such as HootSuite, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube

Assist with administrative tasks as needed (i.e., answering phones & e-mails, copies, directing office traffic, etc.)

Assist with the organization of data, including event social media analytics, website traffic and event surveys

Collaborate with CHESS staff on brainstorming, planning, promoting and executing of CHESS events

Provide high-quality customer service to all campus constituents (faculty, staff, students, and partners) via phone, e-mail, and in person

Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM CUMULATIVE GPA

3.0



All majors within the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences.

Experience



Qualifications



Proficiency in multiple social media platforms



Proficiency with Microsoft Office products



Ability to work effectively with a diverse population



Ability to gather information and present it in a clear and effective manner



Ability to work in a flexible and creative environment



Familiarity with WordPress



Ability to maintain confidentiality
