Job Description

The position is to develop next-generation of cell therapies for cancer in a translation lab focused on preclinical research with strong translation / early phase clinical trial pipeline.  The laboratory is funded by multiple large grants (including the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, the American Cancer Society, the V Foundation, the Alex’s Lemonade Foundation) and has established strong sponsored industrial research agreement with Cell Medica Inc. These funding mechanisms provide an ideal environment for cutting edge research in tumor immunology and enable smooth translation of ideas from bench to bedside.

The position focuses on genetic engineering strategies to redirect the immune cells to attack cancer cells and the post-doctoral associate will be working in the combined translational laboratories of the Texas Children’s Cancer Center and the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy of Baylor College of Medicine. It is essential that the applicant is knowledgeable in fields relevant to immunology (including ex vivo culture of lymphocytes, multiparametric flow cytometry, cytotoxicity assays etc), tumor immunology and has sufficient understanding of viral non-viral vectors. The candidate should be comfortable working with mice.  


  • Ph.D. in basic or translational science
  • Understanding basic tumor immunology principles
  • Understanding basic genetic engineering techniques (transfection, retroviral / lentiviral transduction)
