To support these initiatives Baylor is recruiting an Executive Director for Interactive Instruction and Innovative Delivery to lead a new Educational Innovation Center to enhance learning experiences and outcomes for students, postgraduate trainees and faculty at Baylor. The Executive Director (ED) organizes the programmatic development of multimodal initiatives that support various delivery modes of educational experiences in a variety of settings, including online, synchronous distance education, hybrid or blended experiences, competency-based and face-to-face. The ED also participates in quality assurance assessments of online programming; oversees instructional design teams leads multimodal learning support teams; provides direction to the Educational Innovation Center; facilitates faculty learning communities of practice; coordinates online learning grants, online teaching certification, and conference travel awards; and serves as representative on university and state-wide committees, as appropriate. This position reports to the Provost and SVP for Academic and Faculty Affairs at Baylor. The Educational Innovation Center embraces the vision that well developed applications of technology enable and support learning. It provides instructional design and multimedia technology support and training to enable faculty and staff to acquire new teaching competencies and exploration of emerging technologies and digital media in innovative learning spaces. The Center promotes development and implementation of high quality face-to-face, blended and online learning experiences that are student-centered, grounded in best practices and aligned with institutional strategic priorities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with educational leaders to create strategies, direction, and goals for multimodal and blended learning initiatives.
  • Work across functional areas to leverage resources to implement strategic goals.
  • Foster a vision and current knowledge of teaching excellence grounded in educational research and expertise.
  • Analyze data related to retention, success rates, student progression, and institutional surveys in order to identify areas of improvement for quality assurance of online learning.
  • Participate with senior leaderships to establish strategic plans and objectives, and cultivate support for the scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Maintain relationships with district, state, and national peers to share resources and best practices.
  • Consult, train, and serve as a resource person to the faculty, in the design, development, evaluation and revision of teaching, learning, programs, curricula, and assessment needs.
  • Assist in faculty and staff development on instructional applications of technologies and instructional methods.
  • Facilitate the implementation of instructional innovations.
  • Identify, communicate and promote best practices for applying innovative and effective teaching and learning theories and instructional technologies through faculty learning communities.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance to faculty in the design, development, and delivery of engaging, interactive and instructionally-sound materials and activities that address various learning preferences and are accessible to all students including those with disabilities.

Required:

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or other related field.
  • Ten years of relevant experience.
  • Teaching experience in Higher Education.
  • Experience in multimodal instruction or blended learning, assessment, and programming.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written communication, presentation, and listening skills.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to accomplish tasks and projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to build peer relationships and collaborate in the implementation of effective solutions.
  • Applied experience with implementing continuous improvement processes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to uncertainty and constant changes.
  • Ability to embrace and promote a diverse environment.
