Position Summary and Responsibilities: The Menninger Clinic is seeking a Staff Internist to join our excellent team of professionals. The Staff Internist helps provide medical assessments and follow up management for adult and adolescent patients admitted to The Menninger Clinic for psychiatric care. This includes but is not limited to, admission history and physicals, consultation for medical problems occurring after admission and ongoing medical management of chronic conditions in the hospital and outpatient physical examinations within the scope of practice and protocols approved by the Hospital and the State Medical Board.
The ideal candidate works well in a multi-disciplinary team environment that emphasizes communication and collegiality in providing a comprehensive approach to care.
Position Qualifications: Must have an MD or DO degree with completion of an approved residency in internal medicine or family medicine; board- certified or board-eligible for certification by the respective certifying board for internal medicine or family medicine; must be able to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and possess knowledge of therapeutic modalities employed by team members and the assigned clinical program; DEA registration; and current CPR certification.
Preferred: current license to practice medicine in the State of Texas; and two (2) years of post-residency work experience in related area of specialty.

1.Compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of the Menninger Clinic and its Corporate Compliance committee, the standards of the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and other medical record and legal requirements.
2.Complete assigned assessments and provide ongoing care of patients on admission and during their hospital stay as indicated. Assist with holiday and weekend coverage as assigned.
3.Provide education and training to hospital staff as assigned.
4.Maintain clinical competency and licensing by completing appropriate continuing education requirements.

•Must have ability to write clear, precise, and accurate reports.
•Commitment to participation in ongoing in-service staff training and development.
•Current license to practice as a Physician in the State of Texas
•Current registration with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)
•Current CPR certification
Preferred: Experience working with patients with psychiatric conditions.
