A licensed clinical psychologist, with expertise in assessing and treating pain, is needed to fill a part-time position in the Division of Clinical Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Psychology within the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
The psychologist will be responsible for conducting assessments of the cognitive, behavioral, and emotional influences on the experience of pain and their collective effects on functional activities. This position also involves conducting assessments on patients eligible for implantable neuromodulation devices and intrathecal pain pumps for the identification of the presence of psychological risk factors that serve as contra-indicators for proceeding with implantation.
Related to these primary responsibilities, the psychologist will maintain a therapy practice targeting the modifiable psychological factors of the experience of chronic pain. The goal of this therapy is promote greater adjustment to perceived physical limitations and enhance engagement in day-to-day activities. Referral sources for this psychologist include primarily physiatrists within the PM&R Department, but also include external physicians.
The position will be 2 to 2.5 days per week. The position may be hourly/contract or part- time faculty status, and the salary is competitive
Education Requirements: Must have Ph.D. or Pys. D.
Other: Must have Texas licensure.
