Job Description

The Administrative Assistant assists the chairperson and supports the faculty in virtually all aspects of the department, performing a wide range of responsibilities in an active work space. They interact directly with faculty, students, staff and visitors, responding to their needs and requests, in consultation with the chair, while serving as direct liaison between the department and other university departments (e.g., Student Services, Morrissey College Service Center, Event Management, Buildings and Grounds).

Duties include all matters relating to course scheduling and classroom space requests, management of online course catalog and of departmental information included in all university publications. The Administrative Assistant works with the service center and the Dean’s office to monitor the departmental budget and to ensure reimbursement, payroll, and procurement requests are submitted correctly.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $40,300 to $50,400; salary commensurate with relevant experience.



Requirements

Minimum of one year of administrative support experience with a preference for an academic department in a higher education environment. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

The successful candidate will have strong computer skills and will have the ability to work as a member of a team in cooperation with a diverse constituency while serve as the welcoming public face of the department.
