Job Description

The Division of Chemical and Biological Sciences at Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy National Laboratory affiliated with Iowa State University, is searching for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate.

The project involves the design and synthesis of ordered hierarchical nanoporous materials to serve as supports for catalysts that mediate C–C and C–O bond cleavage reactions. Research activities will be conducted under the supervision of Drs. Wenyu Huang and Igor I. Slowing, as part of an integrated team comprised of experts in homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, sadvanced olid-state NMR and EPR spectroscopies, computational and polymer chemistry, materials synthesis, and reaction mechanisms.

The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for collaborative interdisciplinary projects as well as the ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences.

Required Qualifications: 1) Ph.D. must be completed prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications: 1) Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field 2) Successful applicants will have demonstrated experience in synthesis of composite nanostructured materials and characterization techniques (including but not limited to electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, absorption spectroscopies, physi- and chemi-sorption), and 3) Demonstrated experience in heterogeneous catalysis.
