Job Description

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Project Management in the central Office of Information Technology, the Senior IT Project Manager assists the Director in the oversight of the Project Management Office (PMO) and performs senior level project management and implementation activities including: project planning, scope definitions, financial justifications, vendor selections, resource management, scheduling and controlling of complex enterprise-wide IT projects.


Job Responsibilties
  • rovides guidance and direction to project teams through the management of scope, budget, timeline, risks, issues, and resources for large-scale project teams.
  • Analyzes project goals, plan schedule of deadlines for project completion, and develops action plans and processes for project completion from inception to evaluation.
  • Manages efforts between various stakeholders; coordinates project activities; assigns tasks and provide guidance to personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of the project.
  • Works closely with the Baylor-OIT Process Improvement Group and Baylor-OIT Training and Documentation Group in order to effectively deliver projects that meet defined requirements.
  • Develops and maintains information packages covering the status and variance of the project, including budget, timeline, and resource allocation.
  • Ensures implementations are properly tested, approved by affected stakeholders, and documented for hand-off to operational support.
  • Assists members Baylor-OIT Process Improvement Group in project initiation activities, business case definition, and selection/recommendation of technical solutions.
  • Assists with the continuous improvement of the IT-PMO project management methodology that is repetitive, scalable, adaptable, and sustainable across IT strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities that create and foster high performance teams.
  • Maintains a high degree of focus on reported issues and work closely with project managers, project stakeholders and College leadership to identify areas with risk potential.
  • Provides mentorship, assigns tasks, and works with staff to improve their knowledge and performance, and create a team-oriented culture.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Healthcare, or a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Required: Seven years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in managing projects of variably complex technologies.
  • Experience with higher education and healthcare industries.
  • Experience in projects that deal with Clinical (Epic), Research (CTMS) and/or ERP (SAP) data.
  • Experience working in an environment using Agile and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Project Management, Six Sigma Training, and/or certification. PMP or Six Sigma Certification can substitute for one year of project management experience.
  • Must have or develop within the first year of employment some formal training in project management methodologies (e.g. PMBOK, Six Sigma).​
