Job Description

Job Purpose:

Coordinates and performs daily documentation, abstraction and coding reviews to ensure compliance of physician billing practices with government reimbursement guidelines. Conducts focused physician education to enhance compliance. May lead and provide work direction to entry level compliance coding analysts.

Job Responsibilties:
  • Coordinates scheduling and implementation of physician billing compliance review in collaboration with the director.
  • Recommends improvements to operating policies, procedures and formats for the compliance review.
  • Identifies physician specific educational needs relative to professional coding, documentation, and reimbursement practices; schedules training meetings to provide focused educational reviews to physicians to enhance billing compliance.
  • Completes and coordinates data gathering and communicates review results to the director in a timely manner and in accordance with approved format.
  • Analyzes physician documentation for completion.
  • Research compliance issues and compiles statistics.
  • Reads and interprets Medicare Rules and Regulations.
  • Responds to billing and coding questions and maintains tracking system for responses.
  • Consults with billing personnel.
  • Coordinates meetings via telephone.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
Experience:
  • Required: Three years of relevant experience.
Certification/Licenses/
Registration:
  • Required: Certified CPC, CCS-P, ART, MRT or RRA .
