Postdoc for the Study of Precursors (Ammonium Sulfate/Ammonium Nitrate) of Fine Particulate on livestock manure based compost production system

The Department of Biological and Environmental Science (BES), Dongguk University, Republic of Korea has a new postdoctoral researcher positions starting in fall 2019. The laboratory of Soil & Atmospheric Emission (SAE-BES) is based in Ilsan, 15 miles away from Seoul City. New projects have been funded by the Rural Development Administration (RDA) and Institute of Planning and Evaluation for Technology in Food, Agriculture, and Forestry (IPET).

The successful candidate will monitor gaseous emissions (NH3, SOx, NOx, Particulate matter) from livestock manure-based fertilizer production system and study the formation of fine PM precursors, which is contributing the atmospheric PM2.5 concentration and national ammonia inventory.

A PhD is required in aquatic chemistry, soil science, atmospheric science, engineering, or a similar field, as are experience and publications using modeling and computer programming for data analysis. The initial appointment is for two years, with the second year conditional upon performance, and with possible extension to a third year. The researcher will be responsible for working with other scientists and graduate students to accomplish this research, to manage the project meetings and a workshop, and to prepare peer-reviewed publications. Opportunities to collaborate on proposals, advise students, gain teaching experience, and build your own research program will be encouraged.
