Job Description



Responsible for overseeing and resolving revenue cycle issues for Children's Hospital of San Antonio.

Job Purpose


  • Conduct coding audits focused on revenue optimization and uses the findings to create written reports with recommendations for improvement; develop and present coding education and feedback to facilitate improvement of coding.
  • Refers issues related to documentation, regulatory compliance and/or fraud, waste and abuse to the BCM Billing Compliance Office.
  • Report any identified documentation/coding issues that indicate a pattern of improper billing to the BCM Billing Compliance Office.
  • Review, research and respond to coding questions, including questions from patient inquiries or denied services from insurance companies.  Refer any questions regarding regulatory/compliance and documentation standards to the BCM Billing Compliance Office.
  • Communicate revenue updates related to coding issues to diverse audiences
  • Establish and monitor quality metrics to assess success of revenue coding education activities.
  • Participate in optimization teams and lead efforts to maximize revenue integrity and maintain compliance with all BCM standards as outlined by the BCM Billing Compliance Office.
  •  Identify charge capture opportunities and assist with implementation of coding and billing process.
  • Provide feedback to leadership on ongoing training objectives, further development for team members and/or software, and create idea for continued growth and stability related to team members and practice management utilization.
  • Research current trends in healthcare coding.   Keep stakeholders up to date on changes in billing of healthcare items and services that may adversely impact revenue based on coding of health care items and services.
  • Organize and participate in monthly meetings
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications




  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related field. Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement. 
  • Three years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications


  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
