Overview
The mission of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at Binghamton University is to enroll students who meet academic and financial guidelines; providing support and advocacy for students from admissions through graduation. The Program is designed to strengthen personal development and assist in building academic skills as our student's transition to the University's social and cultural environment. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs, with a dotted line to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Division of Student Affairs
The Division of Student Affairs at Binghamton University manages a portfolio of traditional student affairs units, as well as auxiliary enterprises and multiple academic support programs. Given the programmatic and budgetary scale ($60 million), the Division maintains its own business, planning and assessment, communications and HR offices. The Division of Student Affairs at Binghamton is an entrepreneurial creative and analytics-driven culture where change is a constant. The Vice President places a high value upon informed risk-taking and strategic innovation. The institutional culture is genuinely collaborative; Student Affairs and Academic Affairs joint enterprises include co-leading the institution's high impact learning innovations council.
Job Description
Providing holistic support to economically and academically disadvantaged students, the EOP Director will:
Provide leadership, manage overall planning, and supervise all activities and program development undertaken by EOP, including the summer program and the orientation program for students and parents. These activities also include, but are not limited to curriculum development and design as it pertains to the program's instructional component, tutoring, counseling, mentoring, academic advising, and career advising.
Supervise, evaluate, and provide opportunities for development of EOP staff and services.
Maintain liaisons and collaboration between EOP and academic departments, libraries, administrative departments, student organizations, students, faculty, and the University community at large. Liaisons should also include but are not limited to programs such as the C-STEP (Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program), the McNair Scholars, the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP), the Bridges to the Baccalaureate, and the Discovery Program.
Work closely with the Enrollment Management and retention area, Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and Financial Aid and Student Records to promote the successful recruitment, enrollment, retention, and graduation of underrepresented students.
Develop and shape a vision for the EOP program, making clear alignments between program-level planning and the institution's strategic plan, and help support Middle States accreditation processes. Provide guidance for a strong structure for the program's assessment process utilizing the WEAVE system.
Manage the financial resources assigned to EOP and oversee the pursuit of external funding sources.
Supervise preparation and dissemination of all reports and documents concerning EOP requested by the Faculty Senate EOP Advisory Committee, the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, State and Federal agencies, Office of Opportunity Programs, and/or other external funding sources.
Serve as a member of the Provost's Council, the Vice President for Student Affairs Council, Faculty Senate EOP Advisory Committee (Ex-officio), and other committees as assigned.
Ensure student input into EOP through a student advisory board.
Ensure the evaluation of the entire program including student progress, curricular offerings, tutoring, counseling, and other academic support services.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will be an individual with enthusiasm and integrity, who understands the needs, is committed to the success of EOP students, and who has a vision for access programs that emphasizes academic priorities.
Requirements
Master's degree in college student personnel administration, higher education administration, counseling or a related discipline
A minimum of five years of experience in higher education
A demonstrated record of progressively responsible positions and experience with educational and/or access programs
Supervisory experience
Exceptional administrative and communication skills
Able to manage multiple priorities and to establish effective liaisons across the University
Able to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff
Provide regular program assessment and evaluation
Preferred
Terminal degree (PhD, EdD, JD or equivalent)
