Job Description

A post-doctoral position is available at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine for a collaborative project in the laboratories of Dr. Akrit Sodhi, Department of Ophthalmology, and Dr. Gregg L. Semenza, Departments of Genetic Medicine, Pediatrics, Medicine, Oncology, Ratiation Oncology, and Biological Chemistry. This position is intended for a highly motivated individual with a new or recent Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology or a related field. Our laboratory examines the role of Hypoxia-Inducible Factors (HIFs) and HIF-regulated genes in ocular neovascular diseases (e.g., diabetic eye disease, retinal vein occlusions, age-related macular degeneration). Expertise in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology techniques, signal transduction, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, microscopy, angiogenesis assays and manipulation of experimental animals, including models of ocular disease, is highly desirable. Candidate should work independently and be skillful in oral and written research communication. Salary is commensurate with experience.
