Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES
We invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Faculty of Art in Sculpture. The successful candidate will contribute to a growing Art Department rooted in Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts as we prepare our students to face an ever-changing world with the creative and critical thinking skills needed for the future. Rank will be determined based on the credentials of the selected candidate.

Start date: August 1, 2020

Responsibilities:

Teach seven undergraduate courses per academic year
Cover all course offerings in Sculpture and 3D design, including general education and other foundations art courses applicable to the department needs and the candidate’s skill set
Maintain an active exhibition and research record
Undergraduate student mentoring and advising, including active participation in supervising capstone projects for BA and BFA students
Oversight and operation of the sculpture and ceramics labs, including but not limited to overseeing a safe working environment, managing supplies and equipment, and supervising work-study students
Contributions to departmental growth, such as curriculum development, recruitment, and programming
Committee and other service at Department, College, and/or University level
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:

MFA in Sculpture from an accredited college/university that is conferred by the time of appointment
Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduates
Extensive knowledge of techniques and theory relevant to sculpture and contemporary studio practice
Active exhibition and research record
