Position Title: Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate – Data Science

 

Duties and Responsibilities: The Northeast Ohio Alcohol Center (NOAC) and the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences (QHS) at the Cleveland Clinic is seeking one driven and enthusiastic applicant with an interest in using quantitative approaches to drive advancements in understanding alcoholic liver disease (ALD). An ideal candidate should enjoy working in an interdisciplinary environment and have a background in bioinformatics, pharmacogenomics, statistics, biostatistics, or computational biology. 

 

The NOAC is focused on finding new insight into mechanisms of biochemical and molecular stress in ALD and to translate these findings into improved treatments. To address these challenges, the NOAC has developed rich sources of –omics data in clinical populations. The successful applicant will have opportunities to lead analyses, co-author publications, attend national conferences, and work with data from multiple -omics platforms including genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and data from electronic health records.

 

A highly supportive and dynamic environment will be provided to help in the transition to an independent research career. QHS is located in the Lerner Research Institute of the Cleveland Clinic and consists of an active group of >90 QHS faculty, biostatisticians, analysts, data scientists, and programmers working in diverse areas of biomedicine. The Cleveland Clinic is currently ranked as the No. 4 hospital in the country by U.S. News & World Report (2019-2020).

 

Position Qualifications: The applicant should have a degree in one of the following areas: Bioinformatics, Statistics, Genetics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or a related field. Programming experience in R or scripting languages such as Python/Perl on Unix/Linux is required. An ideal candidate will also have knowledge in genetics, pharmacology, and/or pathology, but is not required. Domestic and international applicants are eligible.

 

Salary Range: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualification. Benefits will be in accordance with Cleveland Clinic standard postdoctoral benefits.
