The Section of Immunology, Allergy and Retrovirology in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children's Hospital integrates state-of-the-art clinical care in immunologic and allergic diseases with cutting-edge research into the underlying immune-mediated mechanisms.  The Section presently seeks a full time research faculty, Assistant Professor, to add to its vibrancy, critical mass, and growing service to its mission within the William T. Shearer Center for Human Immunobiology.   A description of the Center and its mission areas follows.


William T. Shearer Center for Human Immunobiology

  • Provides a basic clinical and translational research center relating to the human immune system and immune mediated diseases.
  • Offers a state-of-the-art research facility and equipment for investigation of human immunity.
  • Maintains a vibrant scientific faculty with training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, medical trainees, and post-doctoral fellow training opportunities, including a journal club.
  • Includes a research seminar series covering topics in human immunobiology.

The successful candidate will join our existing team of dedicated allergy/immunology faculty in the William T. Shearer Center for Human Immunobiology and will be responsible for supporting basic laboratory investigations to determine the function of immunologic cells in human immunologic diseases.  This person will conduct state-of-the-art translational research in four core investigative areas: microscopy, flow cytometry, molecular and genomic analysis. The person in this position will spend time with projects designed to determine the underlying pathophysiology and pathogenesis of multiple immunologic diseases.  This position will also be expected to participate in all aspects of the teaching activities for the William T. Shearer Center for Human Immunobiology and collaborate with scientists in the research community at Baylor College of Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates for this position must have a M.S. or Ph.D. in immunology.  Experience with microscopy with a Leica SP8-based Gated Continuous Wave-Stimulated Emission Depletion Microscope and flow cytometry with BD LSR fortessa and FACSaria III cytometry systems also strongly preferred.
