Assistant Professor of Music, Music Education

The Department of Music at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Music in music education. This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position beginning fall 2020.

Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in secondary instrumental music education, methods courses, supervising and mentoring students in K-12 practicum experiences and student teaching placements. The candidate will also recruit and retain high-quality music education students, participate in academic advising, serve as a leader and resource to the music education community by supporting and interacting closely with school districts in the region. Additional teaching duties may include assisting with concert bands, jazz bands, applied lessons or other courses relative to the candidate’s qualifications.

A Master of Music degree through an accredited college or university is required, doctorate is preferred. Candidates must have at least 3 years’ experience leading a successful band program at the high school or university level.
