Job Description

Primary Responsibilities
Coordinate curriculum and all components necessary to comply with departmental accreditation, standards, certification, and procedures
Advocate on behalf of the department to internal and external stakeholders, including alumni, donors, industry representatives, and prospective students
Lead in the department's recruiting and retention efforts both internally and externally
Provide intellectual and practical leadership based on the rapidly evolving media industry
Supervise approximately 300 majors in four disciplines: advertising; multi-media journalism; public relations; and television and film.
Recruit and retain a diversified faculty and staff and support their professional development
Manage budget, procurement, and facilities
Facilitate course scheduling and special events
Teach a 6-credit load per semester
Provide service to the university, the discipline, and the community

Required Qualifications:
Doctorate in Mass Communication, Mass Media, or a directly related area (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university.)
Demonstrated participation in ACEJMC accreditation standards and procedures
Demonstrated evidence of research, professional or creative activity
Demonstrated administrative, leadership and/or supervisory abilities
Demonstrated evidence of budget experience
Demonstrated evidence of collegiality
Active membership in a discipline-related professional organization
Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses with various methodologies, including face-to-face, blended, and online
Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of faculty morale and enthusiasm
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
