Job Description

Position Duties
The Director will manage the Data Science graduate program to include the following duties:
-Provide leadership for the Data Science program to include:
o Recruit students into the graduate program.
o Develop strategic alliances with business, governmental and non-profit organizations with expertise in Data Science.
o Manage the Data Science Industrial Advisory Board
o Plan events that raise the visibility of the program.
o Manage the Data Science program budget.
o In collaboration with the Career Center, manage internships to ensure that they reinforce the skills taught in the program.
o In collaboration with the Advancement office, participate in fund-raising for the Data Science program.
o Establish a method for tracking graduates’ placements.
o Support an active social media presence for the program.
-Oversee a robust program assessments method.
-Teach 2 courses per year in the Data Science program [In time this will grow to no more than 4 courses per year.]
-Advise Data Science students

Required Qualifications
-Graduate degree, or equivalent, to qualify for non-tenure track faculty appointment in one of the departments at Loyola University Maryland
-Demonstrated commitment to the field of Data Science
-Extensive network of contacts within the data science community
-Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Loyola
-Commitment to equity and inclusion goals of the University
-Proficiency with relevant technology
-Commitment to high impact teaching practices
-Proficiency with oral, written and e-media communication

Preferred Qualifications
-7+ years’ experience in a data-science related field
-Evidence of teaching effectiveness
-Appreciation of the importance of diversity and economic inclusion in organizations and society
