Summary of Position
The Music Program at Plymouth State University invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track position in Instrumental Music Education as Director of Bands beginning August, 2020, with initial appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The teaching load is 24 credit hours per year. The candidate will also be expected to advise undergraduate students and provide service to the university.

Part of the Fine and Performing Arts Academic Unit at Plymouth State, the Music Program offers the BS degree in Music Education and BA degree in Music. The Program also offers a minor in Music, as well as coursework that can be applied toward Interdisciplinary Studies majors. In addition to its academic degrees, the Program sponsors several groups that provide students from across campus with opportunities to perform.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
• Doctorate in music education or conducting completed by date of appointment, August 2020
• Minimum of five years of successful experience teaching music at the elementary or secondary level in a public school setting
• Proven record of excellence in band/wind ensemble conducting
• Experience conducting and overseeing an athletic band program
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications
• Experience teaching at the college level
• Demonstrated excellence as performer on primary brass instrument
