The University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of art history specializing in Contemporary. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach a range of topics including Native American Art, theory and criticism, and a variety of courses covering Renaissance through Contemporary, including Twentieth-century, and Contemporary Art. The successful applicant will begin fall 2020. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities: Teach 3/4 course load and participate in professional, departmental, university and service activities, including publication, committee work, student advising, assessment, and curriculum development. Community activities required for positive performance evaluations.

Department Information: The Art Department includes 10 tenured or tenure-track faculty, 1 Visiting Martha Beach Chair, 7 adjuncts, and an Arts Production Specialist. The department is accredited by NCATE and NASAD. We offer a BA degrees in Art with three tracks: Studio Art, Education Licensure (K-12), and Art History, with studio specializations in Ceramics, Digital Arts, Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, and Sculpture; MA and MAT degrees in Art Education, and minors in Studio Art, Media Integration Studies, and Art History.

Management Preference
Ph.D. in Art History and previous experience teaching in higher education.
