Flagler College invites applications for a full-time assistant professor beginning August 2020 in the field of Modern European history. While the geographic area of Europe is open, preference will be given to candidates with additional research and/or teaching experience in Middle Eastern, South Asian, Central Asian, and/or East Asian history.

Responsibilities will include teaching surveys in Western Civilization and/or World History, new and existing courses in Modern Europe, and upper level courses in areas of expertise. The successful candidate would also contribute to the core methodological courses for History majors, including Historical Methods and Senior Seminar.

Other potential responsibilities could include contributing to general education core courses, Sophomore High Impact Practice (SHIP), study abroad experiences, and interdisciplinary majors. Advise and mentor students. Participate in faculty service to college.

Qualifications
A PhD in History required (ABD candidates considered with documented completion date) with specialization in Modern Europe, with a secondary field in Middle Eastern, South Asian, Central Asian, and/or East Asian history.

Candidates must demonstrate a record of teaching and commitment to scholarly research and engagement in the field.
