Job Description Summary
Full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor, Elementary Education in the College of Education & Social Sciences
Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University’s Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
-Teach eight elementary courses per year which could include but are not limited to: Educational Psychology, Methods and Content of Mathematics, Methods and Content of Science, and Field Experience at undergraduate and graduate levels
-Support the Elementary Program Director in the development of new graduate programs such as Field Base-Program and new graduate cohorts
-Advise students pursuing a degree in elementary education
-Support Program Director in managing external partnerships and relationships that serve to support and grow the enrollment for elementary programs
-Collaborate to develop an effective learning experience for students
-Maintain current and active knowledge in content areas that is reflected in instruction and course development
-Assist in the collection of key assessments for program accreditation
-Communicate professionally, relate well, and share a passion for success for diverse learners
Minimum Qualifications
Master of Arts Degree in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Reading, or a related field. At least three years teaching experience in a 1-6 grade setting. At least three years teaching experience in math and science. Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural awareness in educational and work environments, and willingness to contribute to Lewis University’s mission.
Preferred Qualifications
Terminal degree in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Reading, or a related field.
