The Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time position as a Laboratory Technician for its Long Island (Old Westbury) campus. The individual will be responsible for all aspects of preparation of Biology laboratory courses. Specific responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Solution preparation for various biology laboratory courses.
Maintenance of laboratories in a clean and safe manner (as instructed by laboratory supervisor).
Keep inventory of chemicals and equipment (annual chemical inventory).
Assist in creation of laboratory supply orders.
Complete execution of all safety and security policies.
Notify lab supervisor, security, and Department Chair of reportable accidents in the lab as outlined in the chemical hygiene plan.
Work with Chief Technician on proper handling, storage, and record keeping of hazardous wastes.
Communicate with laboratory instructors regarding laboratory preparations.

The candidate must hold a B.S. degree in Biology.

Previous experience in Biology laboratories is preferred.
