This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded until December 31, 2021. There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding, university priorities and satisfactory job performance.

The Analyst reports to the Associate Director for HR Systems and is responsible for the following:
Supports the delivery of university-wide HR Systems, including PeopleSoft HCM (HR, Payroll, Time and Labor, Absence Management, Talent Management, Pension and Benefits Administration modules), IBM/Kenexa (Staff Recruiting), Harvard Training Portal and other HR applications.
Collaborate with other team members to discuss, design, document, configure and test enhancements and fixes scheduled in a release. Identify and document functional specifications and comprehensive test cases. Execute the test cases during System Testing (TST) and Integration testing (INT).
Collaborate with IT teams, users, analysts, and vendors to ensure complete integration of solutions across systems and areas. Sign off on testing. Conduct user acceptance testing and provide end-user documentation and training if needed.
Participate as a member of an Agile team. Attend the team’s meetings and be actively engaged in what the team is working on. Design, develop, document, configure and test enhancements and fixes that are needed to ensure the successful delivery of the project. Execute test cases during System Testing (TST) and Integration testing (INT). Work with the team to ensure complete integration of solutions across systems and areas. Sign-off on testing, and work with end-users and vendors to obtain their sign off during testing, as appropriate. Provide end-user documentation and training if needed. Identify communication needs.
Participate in the weekly production support rotation during business hours. Respond within one business day to end user questions, system issues and requests for data sets, reports and system enhancements. Independently research and troubleshoot any issues. Consult other analysts as needed.
Ensure that weekly, monthly or annual operational tasks are completed on time and coordinate with business units as needed.
Identify opportunities for process and/or system improvements. Make suggestions to implement those changes. May review other analysts’ work, reports, specification document and/or test scripts to comply with IT Audit guidelines.

Typical Core Duties

Work at a high level within a team on most phases of service analysis and consider the business implications of technology applications to the current and future business environment
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into systems requirements and scoping
Contribute to the definition of systems requirements, conduct gap analysis, and identify feasible alternative solutions that meet defined business objectives
Perform user needs analysis, product evaluation, selection, customization, testing, implementation, and support
Participate in the development of plans and policies for a unit/school
Abide by and follow the Harvard University IT technical standards, policies and Code of Conduct

Basic Qualifications

Minimum of two years' post-secondary education and/or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications

College degree required;
Minimum of 3 years of functional experience with the PeopleSoft HRMS application, or other systems.
Strong project management, organizational, analytical and communication skills are required.
Ability to synthesize business issues into technical solutions and clearly document business needs and solutions.
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work independently and/or as part of a team.
Prior experience at a University is a plus.
Prior experience with the Agile methodology and User Experience/Design Thinking is preferred.
Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor

Certificates and Licenses

Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred
