Job Description

The McCarty laboratory, in the Department of Neurosurgery and the Brain Tumor Center at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, has positions available immediately. The post-doctoral positions will involve basic and translational research in the areas of cancer biology, the tumor microenvironment, and mouse models of primary and metastatic cancers. A group of energetic post-docs and students is specifically interested in the brain microenvironment, including basic studies of how tumor cells exploit the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and the immune microenvironment for selective growth and survival. The McCarty lab is also interested in translating those basic studies to develop therapeutics that target cancer cell interactions with vascular and immune cell components in the brain. The post-doc will receive training and mentoring in the use of mouse models and in vitro culture systems to study cell adhesion and signaling pathways involved in tumor-stromal cell interactions.
