The performing arts are an important component of the academic and cultural life of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point campus. The dance program at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point aspires to create a dynamic culture in which students are inspired to discover anatomical efficiency, explore technical and stylistic range, and achieve full physical expression. Accredited by NAST and NASD, the Department of Theatre and Dance offers BFA degrees in Musical Theatre, Acting, and Design and Technology and BA degrees in Dance and Drama in a department of 225 undergraduate students. Admission to all department programs is by audition and/or interview only.

The Department of Theatre and Dance is housed in the Noel Fine Arts Center. The state-of-the-art facilities include a 372-seat proscenium theatre and a 150-seat black box theatre. There are also two professional quality dance studios, dedicated costume, property and scenery shops, rehearsal spaces, and a design lab. The College of Fine Arts & Communication at UW-Stevens Point is recognized as one of a select few universities to be fully accredited in Art and Design, Dance, Music, and Theatre.

JOB DETAILS:
Position Summary

The UW-Stevens Point dance program seeks a highly motivated, dynamic dance artist and educator to join our nationally recognized program. The ideal candidate will be skilled in teaching all levels of Ballet/Contemporary Ballet. Teaching Contemporary/Commercial Jazz and/or Hip Hop is also required. The position supports expanded dance styles that embrace non-western dance forms. Additionally, the successful candidate will have performance, choreographic and educational experiences that support teaching a variety of theory courses from: Dance Composition, Dance History, Movement Analysis, and Teaching Theories.



Scholarly research, creative activity and service to the department and university is required, including annually choreographing new work for dance majors/minors.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications

- Master’s degree in Dance or Bachelor’s degree in Dance with extensive professional experience

- Demonstrated expertise teaching Ballet and Jazz and/or Hip Hop at multiple levels

- Professional performance/choreographic experience

- Proven ability to work in a collaborative environment

- Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching



Preferred Qualifications

- MA or MFA in Dance

- University and/or professional experience teaching Hip Hop or non-western dance forms

- Previous university teaching experience in Composition, Dance History, Movement Analysis, or Teaching Theories
