Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The School of Nursing (SON), within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for multiple full-time, tenure/tenure-track faculty at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor.

The primary teaching responsibility will be assigned across undergraduate and graduate nursing programs to meet the school’s needs. In addition, all faculty positions have expectations for advising students, research and scholarship, performing professional and community service and outreach, and contributing to ongoing program evaluation and improvement. The successful candidates will be expected to relocate to North Carolina and maintain a campus presence as part of the School of Nursing faculty. Appointments begin Fall 2020.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants for these positions should demonstrate the potential for high-quality teaching and a sponsored research program. Faculty qualifications must include a doctoral degree in Nursing (e.g., PhD, DNP) or a related field with a baccalaureate or graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution, a current RN License in NC, or eligibility for licensure in NC expected as part of the hiring process.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have a baccalaureate and graduate degree in nursing and experience or certification in gerontological nursing or as a family nurse practitioner.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The School of Nursing has an outstanding legacy of serving the people of southeastern N.C. through education, scholarship, and service. The SON is dedicated to excellence in the development of health care professionals through in-depth education, professional partnerships, applied research, regional engagement and community outreach and impact. The SON is located in the 8-year-old McNeill Hall, a state-of-the-art facility that includes offices, classrooms, a large lecture hall, computer laboratories, student success areas and learning commons, and the Simulation Learning Center. The Simulation Learning Center uses high, medium and low fidelity human patient simulators as a teaching and learning tool for nursing education. Through the use of simulation, we strive to create a realistic environment and a powerful learning experience that promotes cognitive, affective, physical and social development of the student, as well as, the incorporation of inter-professional collaborative experiences for students across the degree programs in the College. The SON offers the following degree programs: BS in Nursing (Prelicensure, RN-BSN online), MS in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Educator), Post-Master’s Certificate in Family Nurse Practice, DNP, BS in Clinical Research, MS in Clinical Research and Product Development. Over 2,000 undergraduate and nearly 500 graduate students are enrolled in programs within the SON. Currently, the SON has 80 full-time faculty. The SON’s online bachelor’s degree in nursing program is ranked 7th among 2017’s “Best Online BSN Degrees” by the US News and World Report.

College/School Information
The College of Health and Human Services was created in July 2010 to provide UNCW with a new mechanism to link and focus its health-related research, professional continuing education, and health knowledge dissemination and application. In the formative stage of development, the CHHS is currently home to three professional schools: School of Health and Applied Human Sciences, School of Nursing, and School of Social Work.
