Introduction:

University of the Sciences (USciences) has an immediate need for a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Professor/Director, Fieldwork Education. The Director of Fieldwork Education & Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy will be accountable for overseeing the fieldwork program, supervising the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and Administrative Fieldwork Assistant, coordinating Level I and Level II fieldwork placements, mentoring students through fieldwork experiences, engaging in student-centered learning and innovative teaching, and participating in scholarly activity. This position reports directly to the Chair of the Occupational Therapy department.

Primary Responsibilities:

Collaborates with faculty and staff to assess and improve student learning at the program-level. Ensures that student learning is assessed at regular intervals, assessment findings are considered by appropriate stakeholders, and, when appropriate, action plans are based on assessment findings and consistent with departmental/college missions.
Manage the fieldwork program
Supervise the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator
Supervise the Administrative Fieldwork Assistant
Serve as a liaison between the USciences MOT/DrOT programs and fieldwork sites
Engage in ongoing development, implementation, and assessment of the fieldwork component of the curriculum
Maintain compliance with ACOTE fieldwork standards
Coordinate Level I and Level II fieldwork placements
Mentor students and facilitate quality learning experiences during fieldwork
Evaluate student performance to determine their ability to integrate didactic and fieldwork learning experiences and to progress within the curriculum
Educate students, fieldwork educators, and faculty about fieldwork education
Teach in the MOT and entry-level DrOT programs
Service activities at the university and/or at clinical practice
Represent the university at the OT Philadelphia Region Fieldwork Consortium
Scholarly pursuits commensurate with experience and interest
Academic advising
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Doctoral Degree in occupational therapy or related field preferred
Minimum of five years of clinical experience, including one year supervising fieldwork students is required
Minimum of three years of academic experience with a record of excellence
Effective supervisory skills
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills to efficiently manage the fieldwork program
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with fieldwork sites and within the college and university
Strong commitment to fieldwork education, teaching excellence, and scholarship
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Comfortable with large database management.
