DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION:
H.S. Diploma - Preferred Minimum.

MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:
Proven administrative, management and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to assume complex responsibilities and demonstrate good judgment and diplomacy. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, take initiative and manage competing priorities. This is especially important to ensure that the Director's calendar is properly maintained, all aspects of seminar speaker visits are properly coordinated, that manuscripts and degree program applications are reviewed in a timely manner, and that various deadlines are met. Strong computer literacy and experience. Working knowledge of current versions of web-related software to update McArdle website and faculty member's individual web pages, while complying with UW web accessibility guidelines. Working knowledge of PhotoShop, Illustrator, Publisher, Acrobat, Excel, Filemaker Pro, and other relevant software for database updates, preparing and reviewing publications, grant applications, etc. Ability to work with independence and confidentiality. Ability to train others in the use of the various items listed above. Administration experience/knowledge of the biological sciences field preferred.
