Department Summary
The University of North Texas Child Development Laboratory (CDL) is an early childhood program within the College of Education (COE). It serves primarily as a training site for students in the fields of early childhood education, child development, and play therapy and a site for research. This position is part of the beginning of an early childhood bilingual education program with a strong research component at the CDL.

Position Overview
This position is responsible for supporting an educational program/project requiring a general working knowledge of function/specialization.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and one year of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for EC-6 with bilingual supplemental certification (preference will be given to candidates with a master’s degree in early childhood education).
Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish/English (preference will be given to native speakers of the Spanish language); strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
At least one-year teaching experience in a preschool setting (preferences given to candidates with experience in a bilingual classroom setting); knowledge of Texas preschool guidelines.

Develop and implement culturally relevant curriculum (including selection of materials) that fulfill the requirements of the bilingual program’s curriculum and show written evidence of preparation as required.

Plan for a assets-based classroom environment and use appropriate instructional learning methods, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of bilingual development, learning styles and needs of students assigned.

Conduct assessment (in Spanish and English) of student learning and use results to plan instructional activities.

Work cooperatively with CDL staff and faculty at the COE to modify curricula as needed for children at risk or with disabilities according to guidelines established in Individual Family Services Plans (IFSP).

Work with other members of staff to determine developmental and instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to the bilingual program guidelines.
