The liberal arts department is home to SCAD Core, one of the most academically diverse general education programs at any arts university in the U.S. Students learn to investigate, defend, and express new ideas in required and elective classes in subjects including anatomy, anthropology, astronomy,
biology, business, chemistry, communication, English, foreign languages, mathematics, philosophy, physics, political science, and psychology.

Join SCAD Savannah as the associate chair for liberal arts. In this role, you will develop curriculum, support students and faculty, and help to plan, organize, and lead events. You will assist the chair in evaluating professors within the department through class observations and review of relevant materials. You will also teach classes annually, as assigned. In consultation with the chair, dean, and department members, you will develop a strategic plan for the
department that is consistent with the School of Liberal Arts’ goals and overall SCAD strategic plan. With the department chair, you will provide vision and leadership for the liberal arts department, and you will
work with the chair and dean to provide professional development opportunities for professors. In addition, you will foster interdepartmental collaboration and continue to enhance the reputation of the SCAD liberal arts department in academic and professional circles. You will also work with the admission department to recruit talented undergraduate and graduate students to SCAD and hire world-class faculty.
The ideal candidate is an excellent educator who has a firm understanding of student-centered pedagogy and communicates pedagogical concepts in a manner that motivates faculty to engage students of
diverse backgrounds in exciting ways. University-level administration experience is preferred.

Requirements:
— Doctorate required. Doctorate in anthropology, business, communication, mathematics, psychology, or the sciences strongly preferred.
— A minimum of five years of experience instructing at the college level.
