For a project funded by a multi-PI NIH RO1 grant, the Heijnen/Kavelaars lab is looking for a post-doctoral researcher with a strong background in immunology/neuroimmunology to study the role of T cells and macrophages in the resolution of neuropathic and inflammatory pain. We showed earlier that CD8 T cells and IL-10 signaling are required for resolution of pain. We aim at unraveling the underlying pathways in order to identify novel targets for treatment of persistent chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy and chronic inflammatory pain.

Applicants should hold (or soon receive) a Ph.D. in immunology, neuroscience or a related discipline. Experience with flow cytometry, T cell isolation and culture and in working with mice is a plus.
