This role is internal and open to current employees of the University of Leeds holding a professorial post only
This role carries a 0.2 fte workload remission at your existing pay grade. You will need to discuss this with your current line manager as the role will be timetabled into your existing workload.
The Centre for Health Technologies Research and Innovation (referred to as the Centre from hereon) was established in 2018/19 to bring together cross-campus collaboration and interdisciplinary capabilities in Health Technologies research and innovation and to create an opportunity to unite academic expertise from the University of Leeds (UoL) and clinical expertise from Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT). We define healthtech as medical devices (conventional, digital or their convergence) combined with the use of data and used for diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. Our vision is for the University of Leeds to be recognised as a global leader of healthtech research and innovation. The focus will be on creating, developing, evaluating and translating new technologies, devices, products and services to address clinical need and the transformative growth of the healthtech sector. The Centre, will be supported by other University initiatives such as Nexus, by the Leeds Academic Health Partnership, the Leeds Academic Health Sciences Centre and the wider Leeds City Region (LCR) health technology activities such as Grow Medtech and the LCR Healthtech Leadership Group, underpinned by the MoU. The Centre will also support major new collaborative research and innovation funding proposals.
In launching the Centre, we are keen that momentum is maintained and to enable this wish to appoint a strong leadership team to ensure success and smooth running and delivery of the centre.
A key objective of this leadership team will be to develop an exciting interdisciplinary healthtech strategy in consultation with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders and collaboration with the healthtech Management Group. With this aim in mind, we now seek to appoint two internal Directors, one of which is clinical. The job descriptions for these posts are enclosed.
As endorsed by the University Executive Group, this is an exciting time for healthtech research in Leeds and an opportunity to lead the way nationally and internationally with a unique approach.
