Job Summary
Assists the Principal Investigator and/or Department Head in managing the engineering activities of a department. Provides leadership and management of personnel and resources for engineering projects. Provides counsel and support for the definition of engineering goals and objectives.

Scoping and project management of campus-wide, sustainability and energy implementation projects, such as annual investments toward carbon neutrality by 2050. Support project development and construction management as primary owner’s representative.

Pivotal role in high-impact projects that will reduce the University’s carbon footprint, improve local air quality, and generate significant financial returns.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or a related field, or equivalency; six years experience in scientific research or engineering development; demonstrated communication skills; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required. Experience should include project or organizational management. Preference is given for an advanced degree in a scientific or engineering field and for publication of original research or project development in peer reviewed scientific journals, recognized professional society or engineering journals.

Extensive experience (3+ years) managing design-bid consultant/contractors. Preference given to candidates with experience across interdisciplinary teams for large-scale, highly-technical projects.
Experience (3+ major projects) developing scope and project plans/budgets.
Candidates with a consistent track record keeping implementation of projects on time, in scope, and within budget while successfully delivering project goals.
Experience with design, construction, operation & maintenance, and commissioning major mechanical systems.
Experience developing and maintaining standards and procedures.
Experience working with or in quality-controlled environments such as hospitals, laboratories, and/or manufacturing facilities.
Preference given to candidates with an intimate knowledge of sustainability and energy and related codes/standards, guidelines, and state/University requirements.
Preference given to candidates that hold PMP certification.
Experience with data-driven analysis and decision-making.
