The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for the organization’s varying database environments, both based onsite and cloud. This includes the database design, architecture, security, maintenance, automation, and optimization elements and their associated platforms (SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, etc.). This role will oversee all database backups, including but not limited to: backup jobs, backup procedures and practices, backup file and archive integrity, and backup recovery and restores.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducts routine database management and performance tuning and optimization tasks
Monitors and controls database access and permissions for both internal and external use
Responsible for all database backup procedures, integrity, archiving, recovery, and restores
Develop, implement, and maintain databases and their associated architecture
Oversee all database organization and framework utilizing industry standards and best practices
Participate in software installations and upgrades which require database creation or modifications, or database upgrades
Assess, test, and implement new solutions and technologies as they pertain to databases and integrations
Provide system management including configuration, security, resource monitoring, and reporting of databases and the associated activities
Develop and manage complex queries, stored procedures, views, and triggers optimally to meet requested needs
Develop and maintain thorough, organized, and detailed documentation as it pertains to database administration
Monitor and report on database performance, activity, and capacity
Assist with implementations requiring system integrations between varying databases, onsite or cloud based
Provide reporting and analytics to assist with strategic and tactical decision making by IMT Leadership
Assist with data imports and exports between varying systems
Performs daily monitoring checks and balances for database integrity and backup captures
Assist with creating, troubleshooting, and maintaining SSIS packages for data migration and transformation

Strong SQL programming and database environment knowledge and familiarity
Strong SSIS knowledge and familiarity
Ability to conduct thorough risk and impact analysis for development and production systems
Ability to lead, develop, and mentor others

Exceptional problem solving capabilities
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related discipline from four-year college or university required
At least ten years experience managing database environments
At least ten years experience in writing MS SQL and/or Postgres queries
Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience preferred, but not required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Any Microsoft, or SQL related certificates preferred, but not required
