The University of Akron, School of Music, is seeking a qualified candidates for a Full-Time, 9 month position that will begin August 2020. This position will teach courses in Jazz, Commercial Music, Music Industry, Entrepreneurship, as well as directing Jazz Ensembles. The position may include additional teaching responsibilities as determined by qualifications and institutional needs.

Required Qualifications

Appropriate Master’s degree in Music, the ability to demonstrate successful teaching and evidence of accomplishment as a practicing artist.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate work in Commercial Music, three (3) years professional experience in a similar position or in the professional music field, knowledge of current trends in the professional landscape, a track record of performing and/or publishing in conventional and non-traditional forums and excellent organizational and communication skills. Enthusiasm for possible curriculum development for an innovative jazz and music industry program.
