Department Description

The School of Education is located within the College of Professional studies, offering majors in Elementary, Early Childhood, and Special Education to approximately 600 undergraduate students. We also offer teacher certification for approximately 800 secondary education majors. We pride ourselves in offering offer fifteen teaching certification programs and have an established and growing Master of Education graduate program. We have also created and implemented the first standalone Ed.D. degree at UWSP in Educational Sustainability. The UWSP School of Education Teacher Preparation Program was recently ranked second (2nd) in the nation by Study.com.

JOB DETAILS:
Position Summary

Qualified candidates will have a background and experience in elementary reading and math pedagogy. This position requires instruction of undergraduate/graduate methods courses as part of a block of methods courses university students take prior to student teaching. These courses serve elementary, early childhood and special education majors. This individual must contribute to nurturing an environment that is respectful and collegial and must teach for pluralism and success for all students. This position also requires scholarship, service activities, advising and mentoring, and may include student teacher supervision. This is a nine-month academic year appointment with possible opportunities for additional undergraduate and graduate level teaching during winterim (January) and summer terms. Duties may also include teaching courses and non-credit offerings on evening, weekends, and/or off-campus settings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications

- Earned Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Reading/Language Arts, Math or Math Education, Social or Educational Leadership

- Teaching experience in reading and math grades K-8

- Experience and evidence in collaborative or inclusionary settings

- Three years of successful pK-12 teaching experience

-Knowledge, experience, and evidence of success with diverse populations in a variety of educational settings

- Demonstrated commitment to reflective teaching practices



Preferred Qualifications

- Ph.D. required. ABD will be considered, but doctorate must be conferred prior to the first retention date

- Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate level

- Experience teaching graduate, adult learners and/or other professionals

- Earned Reading Teacher Licensure (316)

- Evidence of successful on-line teaching

- Evidence of collaborative partnerships with PK-12 schools (public or private)

- Knowledge and experience with the Foundation of Reading Test and edTPA preparation

- Evidence of research, scholarship, and service
